Leadership

The Council

An independent Council is guiding Beth Joseph through this transition, ahead of Board elections in January 2027.

Our mission

The Council's mission is to foster stability, transparency, and growth by uniting our congregation around a shared vision and inspiring every member to help build a stronger Beth Joseph Congregation for the future.

A time of transition

Stewarding BJC toward its next chapter.

Beth Joseph is navigating an important leadership transition. To guide the congregation through this period and position us for a strong future, the Board of Directors has established an independent Council of three members of the congregation.

The Council is independent and empowered to make the real decisions needed for the health of the institution. It oversees BJC's affairs during this interim period — working alongside Rabbi & Rebbetzin Twerski to maintain stability, strengthen transparency, and chart a clear path toward Board elections.

A message from the Council

Stability, transparency, and a path to growth.

To our dear members and friends of BJC,

As the newly formed independent Council, we are honored to step forward in service to BJC during this important period of transition. We take on this responsibility with humility, energy, and a deep commitment to the strength and future of our community.

As an independent Council, we have been entrusted with the authority — and the responsibility — to make the real decisions needed for the health of our institution, and we do not take that charge lightly.

Our goal is to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition, maintain stability in the life of the shul, and work collaboratively with members across the congregation — and alongside Rabbi and Rebbetzin Twerski — to build trust, momentum, and a clear path forward. Put simply, our charge is to pave a transparent path toward our upcoming elections, with accountability at every step.

There are already a number of exciting initiatives in development, and we look forward to sharing more with you soon. The Council's role is not only to maintain continuity, but also to help build momentum for meaningful growth and renewal within our community.

For this effort to succeed, we will need your partnership. This is truly a community-wide undertaking, and every member has a role to play in shaping BJC's future — regardless of past experiences or perspectives. We are genuinely excited about the road ahead and hopeful about all that we can accomplish together. Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your commitment to our community.

Sincerely yours,

  • Leah Loeb, CPA Vice Chair, BJC Council
  • Karmi Gutman, CFP, ChFC Treasurer, BJC Council
